A service of reconciliation and forgiveness was held at Coventry Cathedral on Sunday 18th August 2002. Many members of BCS attended the service, which included members from Japan who had come especially for it.

1. BCS Chairman Masao Hirakubo and Vice-Chairman Phil Malins, veterans of the Burma War, join together to remember the war dead, in the spirit of reconciliation and forgiveness. Behind them stand the Reverend Andrew White, organiser of Coventry Cathedral's special reconciliation service, and the Reverend Professor Kemmyo Taira Sato of the Three Wheels Buddhist Centre in London.

2. Japanese Ambassador Masaki Orita and the Mayor join the prayers.
