Aim
To encourage reconciliation and the spread
and exchange of information about any aspect of Britain and
Japan's encounter during the Second World War, and matters
subsequently arising from it, especially those related to
the Burma Campaign 1941 - 1945
Membership is open to anyone interested in the Society's
aim. Organisation
The affairs of the Society shall be conducted by a Committee
elected annually by Members comprising:
- Chairman
- Deputy-Chairman
- Honorary Secretary
- Honorary Treasurer
- Committee Members
The positions of Chairman and Deputy Chairman shall if possible
be of different nationalities, either British or Japanese.
Three Japanese members are invited to send comments to the committee by as 'email members’.
Subscriptions Membership costs £15, (or £45 for three years), ¥3000 (¥9000
for 3 years), and a subscription form needs to be filled
out and returned to us. Activities
- Promoting research and debate
on all aspects of Britain and Japan's encounter in the
Second World War 1941-1945
- Helping enquirers find information on any aspect
of that encounter
- Furthering the recording of truthful
historical facts and stories about that encounter
- Encouraging the publication of balanced accounts
of the Anglo-Japanese encounter 1941-1945, especially
the
Burma Campaign
and the encounter
- Arranging joint Anglo-Japanese remembrance ceremonies
for the war dead
- Liaising with the All Burma Society of Japan, Association
of Japan and Members in Japan
- Producing a Newsletter and other publications
- Arranging an Annual General Meeting and other
meetings
